Kermit, TX is a community with humble beginnings as a supply center for the scattered ranches throughout the Texas area in the late 19th century. The city was named for Kermit Roosevelt after his father Theodore Roosevelt visited the county. The county suffered a drought in 1916, and for about 10 years many families were forced to leave.
Although, in 1926 when oil was discovered near Kermit the town experienced a boom. The rapid growth of the economy in the country was because of the oil industry and the population started to grow, too. Now the City of Kermit is home to friendly locals and successful businesses.
