Pecos, TX

The Odessa Community

Pecos is the county seat of Reeves County, located on the west bank of the Pecos River just at the eastern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert below the New Mexico border. In 2012 Pecos appears in the Forbes 400 to be recognized as the 2nd fastest-growing small town in the United States. Pecos is also well known for their cantaloupe, cotton and onion production as well as being the home of the world's first rodeo.

With a desert climate, summers are hot and sunny during the day and cool at night and winters are mild and mostly dry. The arid climate is subject to a combination of high temperatures and frequent high winds which is potentially dangerous, especially in the oil fields.
